This is an out of the box idea for Republicans... (and I am a Republican, but have a few ideas that would not be considered typical). This is an out of the box idea for Republicans... (and I am a Republican, but have a few ideas that would not be considered typical).
I am definitely scared of socialism, and government running everything.
However, I was wondering the harm in considering this idea... higher taxes on the wealthy (as Obama wants), but instead of using them to expand government, make them the "give back tax" that goes into Social Security. Wealthy Americans (I am talking individuals, not small businesses) could start giving back to the other Americans who have fought for them in war (and those whose children and grandchildren will as well), who have taught their children, put out their fires, shopped in their establishments, etc., via a "give back tax" that will re-fund Social Security so that other Americans can some kind of secure retirement as they will have due to their success.
I believe these people can afford it, but should not be funding a bunch of government "crap" that causes people to become government dependent. I would think that this idea would really be a turn on to many democrats that are of middle or lower classes, as so many want the rich "to pay" for some reason. Honestly, I think many would be very open to this idea, as it would secure their retirement, and be a solution to fix Social Security.
What do you think? Again, this "give back tax" would not be to grow the government, but could be used as a solution to pay back other Americans for their patronage and patriotism in this great country via stabilizing Social Security (and maybe paying down the national debt if SS ever gets stable).
This would be very interesting to swing voters, and even many Dems who are unsure about Obama.
